When are Premier League lineups announced?

Premier League lineups are normally announced around 75 minutes before kick-off. For a 15:00 match, start checking at 13:45. Use the club's or league's official announcement to confirm the names; a predicted XI remains a forecast.

What time should you check for your match?

  2. Around 75 minutes before: Look for the official sheet

This is the expected release window. Only an official team sheet confirms the names, not the clock.

  3. At kick-off: Check the latest official update

Use the latest team sheet and any official corrections. A missing update on a website does not tell you when the club published its team.

Count back one hour and 15 minutes from the scheduled kick-off. Keep both times in the same time zone and use the match's date: UK clocks change between GMT and BST, so a fixed offset can give the wrong local time.

The 2026/27 Premier League Handbook sets two separate rules: clubs must submit team sheets at least 75 minutes before kick-off, and must wait until the 75-minute mark to publish the teams (L.23 and K.95). The Premier League introduced this earlier public release in 2024/25.

Predicted XI, team news or official XI?

A predicted XI estimates who the manager will start. Team news covers availability and selection updates, such as a player returning to training or missing a match through suspension. An official XI identifies the starters named on the team sheet for that fixture.

A press-conference comment may confirm something about one player without confirming the whole team. Training photographs and the previous starting XI can offer clues; neither establishes the eleven selected for the next match.

Check each team's lineup status

Open either team's lineup in the match example to inspect the names and sources. Each side has its own status, so check both teams separately.

The expected announcement time tells you when to check. It does not confirm that either club has published a team sheet. If that time passes without an official XI here, check the club's own announcement or the Premier League match page.

What does the announcement confirm?

The announcement confirms the players named to start and the substitutes available. It does not guarantee that a substitute will come on or explain why another player is absent. A formation drawn alongside the names is a separate tactical interpretation.

The XI can still change before kick-off. For an injury or illness, handbook rules L.26-L.27 allow an amendment when a doctor certifies that a named player cannot reasonably play; the club must report the change to the referee, opponents and match manager. If you see conflicting lists, check for a later official update.

Why might Match XI show an official XI later?

An official XI appears here once the official team-sheet information has been received and published. The club or Premier League may show it first, so the expected check time is not a delivery guarantee. Our methodology explains the sources behind each lineup status.

What if the kick-off time changes?

Recalculate from the new scheduled kick-off if a fixture is rescheduled. If a match is postponed without a replacement date and time, there is no useful announcement countdown.

Before relying on a lineup, check the fixture date and both team names, then find your player under starters or substitutes. Use a sourced availability update to explain an absence; the team sheet alone cannot tell you why someone is missing.
